OUR HISTORY
Quinta da Ponte Pedrinha is located in the demarcated region of Dão, in the Serra da Estrela sub-region.
Located in the municipality of Gouveia, Guarda district, it has been in the possession of the Mendes Oliva family since the late 18th century, standing in perfect harmony with the Beira landscape.
Its name comes from the existence of a Roman bridge on the estate, being one of the oldest wineries in the Dão region and dates back to the times when the vineyards were worked by the famous ox carts.
Generation passed by and now belongs to Maria de Lourdes Mendes Oliva Nunes de Albuquerque Osório who has three children.
The eldest daughter, Patrícia Oliva Nunes de Albuquerque Osório Freire de Carvalho, is the only one who works here, being currently the winegrower and winemaker of the estate.
In the middle 1900s, new vineyards were planted and a new cellar was built by the father of the current owner.
Thirty years later, a major restructuring of the vineyard was carried out, increasing its area.
The winemaking technology gave rise to another cellar, contributing to exponentiate the quality that Quinta da Ponte Pedrinha wines have to offer, combining tradition with innovation.
The current 50 hectares of replanted vineyards plus 7 hectares of old vineyards around 50 years old are deeply rooted and linked to the land and the lives of the people who lived and live here, offering details of rare beauty to the surrounding landscape and illustrating the long tradition in Quinta da Ponte Pedrinha.
The work in the vineyard respects not only each strain but also the sustainability of the vineyards and their surroundings. The vineyard is the fundamental base with the main objective always present: to obtain exceptional wines in each harvest, minimizing the subsequent intervention in the cellar. This is how authentic wines are born from here, respecting the characteristics of this region, giving proof of its quality associated with a classic profile well identified by its uniqueness with personality, character, elegance, freshness and smoothness.
